Penguins, Taxis, Clubs and the like. Do these go in the biscuit tin with yer ginger nuts and yer hob nobs, or should they be stored in another container?

Fridge for the wrapped choccy biccies for me.
Nice and cold.
I've recently taken to putting my packets of wine gums in the freezer alongside my bottles of Smirnoff.

Is Smirnoff above 40% ABV or is your freezer at a high temperature?

Dpn't know but I take it out of the freezer leave it to stand for a period then pour the delightful slush into a glass. Delightful with rock hard wine gums.
On the biscuit front I have recently gotten into chocolate caramel wafers. Very nice straight from fridge.

Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice.
Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality.

Look at it this way ... your ginger nuts (*), hob nobs, et al are (one assumes) stored in a manner suited to preserving the crunchiness of this type of biscuit.
Penguins and other fully-coated biscuits, whose crunchy interiors are insulated from the atmosphere by said coating, do not require crunchiness-compatible storage and could, indeed, impair the crunch-quotient of their hobnobby or gingery neighbours if stored with them.
Hence, I would definitely say they should be kept separate and cool, possibly with the Fig Rolls and Jaffa Cakes.

(*) Of which the best are from Wrights of Brighouse, oh my word yes, they are the gingeriest and far-and-away the snappiest of ginger snaps. So snappy, they would probably be banned from schools.
Also, for those barbarians who participate in "dunking", from whom I must disassociate myself, these gingers are remarkably resilient and only rarely flop-off into your tea.
Wrights also make wonderfully, beautifully brittle brandy snaps.

Some nice observations there EB.
A little bit of best butter on the underside of two Rich Tea biscuits and then amalgamated together makes a pleasant little nibble with a cuppa.

In our house anything rated above the Pennywise style brands are hidden from me, so the likes of Penguin, Taxis, Club etc would be placed in the females secret hiding place that people like their father cannot find and scoff.

Its the dishwasher.

I discovered it months ago, but they don't know because I only nick one at a time.

I think Wizeb has cut to the nub of the issue.

Who keeps biscuits long enough to worry about where they're stored?

Right, ditch the Smirnoff crap and buy some proper vodka of at least 40% abv. That will not turn to slush but will become deliciously syrupy. Treat yourself to a bottle of Pertsovka (chilli-flavoured vodka), keep it and the glass in the freezer. Pour a shot for your breakfast and you'll be able to walk down to the newsagent in a t-shirt, looking for all the world like an adult Ready-Brek kid.

For a sharper flavour, go for Limonaya (lemon flavoured vodka)
