Back in May, Lynton Cobber was widely reported as advising Cameron to get the "barnacles off the boat", meaning slim down the message to the core issues, ditching stuff that was not part of their main thrust.Since then, the tories have dropped minimum pricing for alcohol and plain packaging for tobacco.
Mr Cobber has now unequivocally denied discussing either topic with Cameron, thereby attempting to avoid any mud thrown at them about his lobbying company's links to, erm, alcohol and tobacco companies.
Now, call me cynical, but don't election strategy advisors talk to party leaders and won't the conversation include potential legislation?
