more faces than the town hall clock ? : Mon Oct 17, 2016 10:56 am
This should probably be on the "Brexit" thread but, Boris Johnson, one of the main advocates of the "leave" campaign was, just a few months prior to the vote, advocating remaining within the EU.

Was his change of mind really driven by a desire to leave the EU or, was this indeed just a cynical move to try and claim leadership of the Tories and have his tim in the "big chair" at no. 10

There is no doubting his likability and his people skills but, this looks like one of biggest U turns in political history and it has certainly had dramatic and long lasting consequences.

More likely easily led by Michael Gove.

There are lots of brexiteers who are suddenly realising just what they voted for. Sadly there are too many thickos who still haven't a clue what they have voted for except they believe there will be less immigration.
We live in interesting times and come November even moreso.

Looks like he was weighing up the pros and cons of each option and then came to a conclusion based on that process. Seems entirely sensible. Don't see how he can be criticised for it.

I'm sure there were thousands doing the same and I'm sure there were thousands advocating to leave then changing their minds when it came to ticking the box.

Another nothing story which the press will milk for all it's worth and then some.

I agree with your sentiments BUT, Boris isn't just the man off the street. He was wanting the top job in the country and he should certainly have known his own mind long before the referendum.
I know that politicians these days, change their mind when the wind shifts but of all people, this guy should have knowledge and principles in equal measure.

This is the main problem with modern politics. Lack of vision and leadership and the only crumb of comfort is that this clown isn't running the country.
