heres a thought : Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:58 am
The Scorpions really wanted to start last season but they thought 2 teams in South wales would be too manyThe Scorpions play at the Neath RFC club who are owned by a guy - who is very dynamic ( and wealthy) and Neath RFC have won the Welsh premier division 5 times in last 6 years.
Problem is Neath cannot get promoted into the Magners league as that is ring-fenced for Regional sides only ( even though 2 of the sides are not really regions - Llanelli scarlets and Cardiff Blues )
The owner of the Scorpions is chums with the Neath owner and this is why the Scorps play at the neath's ground The Knoll
Now the Scorpions have said they want to work their way up the leagues and bid for a Superleague place in 2014.
The owner of the very successful Neath RFC side may just be interested in getting involved in this bid as the rugby league DOES reward effort unlike the dozzy WRU who allow pathetic sides like the Dragons have been and the Scarlets are now, to continue to retain their Magners league status no matter how badly they are run and play
good one to watch
