Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.
As they already have the name Northampton Demons - with an under age side Northampton Knights - with a Demons badge as per website I cannot see why the need for a change. It could possibly be because the new owner wants to incorporate them into the soccer club. If so,it looks possibly like their new name will be Northampton Town RL Club.
With the RU club named Northampton Saints it may be advisable to have RL in the name,to establish the separate identity.
As it is just over a mile from Franklin Gardens,the home of the RU Club it may be worth incorporating part of the Sixfields Stadium name into the club title.
