Did anyone on this forum actually go to the game - I didn't. I'd be interested to hear from someone who actually saw the game - coverage on twitter did come across a lot more positive until last quarter. Did Douglas look OK, does Barber look fit enough to start, and just what is happening with Crooks? Listened to Finns pre game injury update and had less idea after it than before.

I didn’t attend the game but have spoke to some individuals who did . Positives were Douglas n Keyes , obviously there is some big changes to be made . Personally I’m really struggling to get interested in this season as a whole. I can’t get my head round how a side can already be promoted before a ball is kicked . I have no doubt the intentions of everyone at the club are good however I believe this img concept is merely a carrot being dangled and that superleague is a closed shop . If I was a billionaire I would re name the sport and split from the current model like they did when league split from union , players would play the sport as it was when it was gladiatoral and no one would be excluded based on some ridiculous box ticking exercise , it’s perhaps the most absurd set of parameters ever invented. The best rugby league can be in its current form is watching an old movie where you already know what happens, not sure how many times I’d watch that movie though.

Re: Fev away : Mon May 06, 2024 3:14 pm
I was there for my sins and even received the wanky wanky wanky Halifax chant personally by a young Fev fan walking to the ground, he was soon picking his teeth off the floor, that last part is a joke by the way. As for the game i would say over the full 80 mins we created more chances ie half breaks and clean but couldn't finish enough of them off to win the game. Fev were more clinical and as the game wore on exploited our weakness on the edge to take the game away from us even when they had Gale sent off they scored 3 tries to 1. Eden went off again after about 60 mins mark, Douglas made more of a impact in his second spell, Connor Davies played instead of Kav and Barber came on for him but then had to move to centre when Eden went off. Wellington Albert made a difference for Fev coming off the bench with his offloads and scoring a crash over score, we don't have anyone who makes that sort of impact and I am just glad Springer didn't play because they would of had 2 big impact props.

Was this performance a step forward, in creating more chances yes, in not finishing enough of them off to win no. Then look at our defence very week we will probably need to score about 30-40 points to win a game because of how soft we are in D. Getting turned over for not playing the ball right 4 times in the first half, some wild and poor passing when in good attacking positions and looking the weaker side when they had a player sent off in the last 20. How long this is allowed to go on for who knows maybe until the York game with them struggling too could be a turning point one way or the other but we badly need some new bodies through the door and fast.

Sadly Greg Eden is starting to look a massive own goal of a signing with his injury record catching up with him. He’s contracted till the end of 2025 if I remember correctly.

Yeh - I said only a few weeks ago, he averaged 15 games a season at Cas for the last 5 seasons

And what hurts more is that Walmsley is scoring tons of tries for Wakey. I think AOB returning will make a big difference and Finn seemed to suggest he could be available for the relegation 4 pointer against York.

I think it's too early to even think about. He got dealt the cards that Grix dealt him and although his interviews don't exactly fill me with confidence, its pretty clear that he inherited a team that needs a full rebuild and the new board do not have the money to do that. Realistically who could be brought in to do better?

At the time was options Long went to Oldham that would of been my first choice but was more options rthan someone who had 1 year experience with a championship team in L1

he just is not the man for the job he is proud of the perofrmance week in week out. Its ok saying we can not afford to get rid fans are going down regardlessin numbers which means we are going to end up bust regardless if we carry on like this
