Perhaps if they had directed their frustrations at the council for a number of years over the state of the shay, something may have been done about it? But on the whole it's just easier for them to blame the rugby. They still see if as their pitch even though the current club only came into being in 2008.
The overall state of The Shay is a disgrace, has been for years. It's always been a low priority for the council and now they wish to "dispose" of it, it is even less of a priority.
And I'll put my orthopaedic shoes on and stand corrected on having never played them before, I thought the closest we came was when we'd have played them in the Challenge Cup but got thrown out and Batley played them instead
