I would hope that the board would at the very least speak to Powell to see if he is interested in the job and take it from there. And what i find odd is whenever the discussion on here is about if Grix should go or not and he as decided to leave off his own back we get 31 pages and counting where was this interest in any other topic about the club. He has not been pushed out he has chosen to go despite being offered a new long term deal so i don't get where this blame game is coming from. It is a bit like us getting nearly 4 thousand in attendance for the cup game with saints then what happens to all those fans for the following games they just disappear but i bet they make a return for wembley and then just disappear again. And it is these same people who come on here or facebook and call people like me not true fans for daring to say that Simon should go. Maybe if they showed more loyalty to supporting the club the attendances would be up the club would then have more money to sign better players and you never know Simon might have thought that the club is on the way up and decided to stay.

Just a thought on other teams fans based on personal experience by what they've said to me and posted over the years.

Those who don't really like Fax say it's because many of us come across like where this "BIG" club that shouldn't be in the Championship having to play (never mind lose to) the likes of these minions, our "rightful place" should be in Super League.

I know it was only because he'd do anything for a few clicks but what did Matthew Shaw say about expectancy set against reality?

I mean any of us, pick a sport we're good at and then as a part timer on a limited budget enter a competition that includes several others who are full time with a bigger budget who are just as good or better than us where your supporters expect you every year to come out on top or be sacked.

Reasonable anyone, any takers anyone?

I know a lot of Fax fans yet don't know a single one who believes we deserve, or realistically believe, we have a shot at SL so maybe I'm mixing in the wrong crowds.

How many full time teams are there in the division? Just Toulouse? I don't think London are anymore are they? So we keep seeing the budget mentioned quite a bit and I know this board and previous boards like to play down where we stand, obviously the new board talked about how our budget would be increasing with them in charge which now seems unlikely going on communications recently. Commercially we are in the top 2 or 3 teams revenue wise and have been year on year which obviously makes up for our crowds and the fact that we make very little, if any, money off the stadium. A thing that is overlooked and never gets mentioned is that we are pretty central in terms of location of teams which is a huge help when it comes to signing players and means we can get players cheaper than some clubs as playing for us means they have less expense. Batley are very much the same and its not just luck that we are two teams that are usually finishing above our position in any budget league table if there were such a thing.

Its not just as simple as saying we have the 9th worst budget in the league so finishing above that is over achieveing. There are many factors that play in to it.

So Warrington have got rid Powell who has been unable to deliver results, a coach who has clearly had the resources and money made available to compete with the best there is. I take it they felt he couldn't motivate his team, I guess he must have lost the dressing room. Are these not the same reasons as to why some on here wanted rid of our current coach, but yet same people would have Powell as replacement??

Strange one regarding finances and you hear all sorts of different stories, heard one fan say we were increasing our playing budget next season then Matt shaw stated we were 9th in playing budget this season which given the quality of players we have surprised me . Just being browsing through our squad and 14 of them are either from Halifax or live in Halifax which will help on some financial level then you have pickersgill ( who I assume lives in Bradford) and tibbs who lives in Huddersfield. The rest travel together either from the Wakefield and the Manchester areas . Makes me think how much budget and logistics play a part in our recruitment strategy. Interesting that Brandon Douglas is from Halifax too and I suppose we are lucky to have a quality catchment area for local lads .

One thing that does puzzle me is the messaging from the board who upon the takeover said the short and long term plan was to aim for superleague .Then not too long ago Dave Grayson spoke about keeping the club afloat during our spell away from the shay due to historical debt from the previous board ( also heard that the guy who was a main sponsor last season also left some debt too ) Surely the new board especially Dave Grayson who has been involved with both parties would have known about the debt before the takeover and this would have been calculated into the funds made available for playing budgets etc . David himself mentioned a 1,3,5 year plan to get to superleague either through the traditional methods or through img , regardless this doesn’t seem possible without money .My research shows me that the only directors who’s companies seem to have good turnover is Ian uttley from Stagefreight and mark bannister from eclipse energy. The only other potential investment is through sponsorship, the biggest turnover being wdenis who sponsor Leeds utd and I did hear we were trying to secure more input from them for next year .

It’s a mix of facts and speculation but that’s my two penneth.

I would bite your hand off to have Powell as our next coach and with all due respect to Simon i do not think you can compare the 2 at this stage of their careers . If you read the Warrington forum there is a lot going on at the club that as contributed to there poor form. And yes Powell as take some of the blame for that but by the sound of things he has not been helped by some of the players not performing in the hope of outing him.

So in the time SG has been in charge the assessment is.
Currently we are in the division we deserve to be in with no realistic chance of getting out.
Year on year we have only finished behind full time teams on bigger budgets realistically achieving our targets neither over / under achieving.
We are a player attractive commercially sound club with a new board who will back the club as much as they can.
In that setting the first time we have a disappointing league campaign teetering on the edge of the play offs we have a coach out campaign in the weeks and months before he decides to leave.
A new replacement is coming in, so far ranging from Daryl Powell, Liam Finn or Luke Robinson.
This week we play the top of the league followed by a trip to Wembley and a crunch game away at London.
