Irrespective of whether we've got Nanyn or not I'd go with:- Rob, Tyrer, Reittie, White as our backline.

Nanyn maybe a very useful sub covering Centre/2nd row but I've never noticed the necessary aggression for him to be effective in the pack.

where's paterson??

Funny one is Nanyn, always looks unfit and lazy, he is like marmite, you love him or hate (maybe a bit strong that) him, maybe we dislike him because he is better than we give him credit and he kicks you to death getting all those goal kicks a bit like Holly?
Comes across as a decent guy on the field and quiet off it, he must do something right as he is at the top of the points chart every year or thereabouts.
Not fussed if we do or we don't sign him, how old is he now?

That surprises me , thought he would be a bit older than that.

My post wasnt a dig at you, just a generalisation of a multitude of previous posts. It just so happened that it was directly below your post :D

Rettie is a winger not a centre.

Competition is no bad thing for our back line. With Patto not due to be fit until Feb/March I think this is very shrewd business. When I first heard Nanyn's name mentioned I too thought "oh please no!". Then I looked at the guys stats and they do speak for themself. Competition for places is key to keeping players on their toes and Rhino will certainly create that sort of environment and a winning mentality. Think Nash had a similar effect on opposing clubs fans as Nanyn does. I for one welcome him to our club if he has signed and think he is another piece of the jigsaw that Rhino is completing!

Competition in the squad is everything.

Rhino is putting a squad together with players who are hungry to play for halifax...

in the last few years we have done well and been to some finals, but i think the impression that everyone got was that most of the players were picked on reputation, rather than what they do in training or on the pitch.

this year is clearly going to be different. this can only be good. :D

unless we get injuries in the three quarters i cant see Wayne R playing anywhere other than 2nd row though Leon.
