Club Website : Mon Feb 16, 2009 8:48 pm
We were told at the last Fax Trust meeting by Graham Clay that the club were getting a new website.
When please?
I think we have fallen behind other clubs now as our website is tired and often not up to date, other RL Championship clubs websites look better then ours now and even FC Halifax Town for example have their website updated all the time often with current match scores and results on matchdays.
I know the club are doing their best but it is more important than ever to have a good website, we are a global brand and fans are hungry for information.

Big thanks to my old mate Conrad who still does what he can I believe for the club on the existing website, cheers.

Steady on. The game itself isn't a global brand so how our club can be is a little bit "stretchy". Unless of course you're referring to our Canadian brothers in Nova Scotia? :D

Marketing speak - we have 2 fans at least south of Watford I do know.
Ex-pats are a target audience, I know the club get requests for stuff from down under particularly.

Anybody at the club replying? Please?

Why dont the club ask for a volunteer to become the Website Editor. I know Conrad has done it in the past, plus other individuals, but it needs somebody who can spend a fair bit of time on its upkeep.

As Fax4Life says, the FC Halifax Town one has this season been excellent with the text commentary (updated every few minutes) service during games a new addition this season. Kelly, who runs it, does so as a volunteer alongside her full-time job but by working closely with the club she has made it a extremely source of information - as it should be. All she gets in return is free entry into all home and away games.

The club is working on a new website which is being part created by the RFL's club support unit, though the club retain complete editorial and design control. It will feature many new and innovative features, and will be automatically updated with general game-wide news by the RFL media department. The initial designs look very good, and the club expects to sign-off the final design later this week. The planned launch is early March. One of the problems with the current site is the complex and time consuming way of updating the info - the new site will be much more flexible, and have a vibrant, modern look that we think will appeal to everyone.

Good, thanks for the update.
As long as the club can also do updates it should be good.

So the RFL is creating the new club web site and doing the matchday programme. And here's us thinking the RFL don't want to know what's happening outside SL.

Contrary to what we all think the RFL are doing a good job, manned by good people who care for rugby at all levels of the game.

Never mind, lets bag em.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Actually web sites are one of the easiest and most logical items the RFL should and could help all clubs with , many other sports including the NRL all use the same provider and the same basic format's

As far as the programme point , I tend to disagree , they are [ or should be ] an opportunity for clubs to build links with thier local communities and businesses , some do manage to use them correctly , some dont
