Our crowds : Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:15 pm
If Widnes got over 5K tonight as they are saying then how did they manage it when there would have been Nil away fans?
It shows how poor our support is if we don't get 3K plus when we play them, lets hope we win and kick on then start to get those missing fans back.
We need to learn lessons from them, the club marketing wise and the Council ground wise as they are both very well run.

I have to admit that we are doing better (we have some tremendous volunteers) but we still lag behind Widnes off the pitch - okay they have a money man backing them but its down to doing things well.
I am not having a go but take a look over the hill and maybe learn??

Oh and us fans have our part to play we must twist arms and plug the games at all times, I am nagging people about coming to the Widnes game and hopefully 2 or 3 will come down who don't normally.

Oh and ground wise, well Widnes have a Council run facility, okay better than the Shay even with the new East Stand but our stadium manager and staff could learn a lesson or two from their opposite numbers.
I won't hold my breath.

Widnes fan tells me their crowd had:-

Around 4,000 Paying spectators, had just over a 1,000 school kids in the east stand.

Well done to them I am impressed.

But hey next week is about what goes on down on the pitch and we will hopefully prove who is top dog, come on lads you can do 'em.

I agree 100% with exactly everything you've put there. It's an oft point put across but one which does need hammering home.

I'd say 5100 was the true attendance .

The East stand , behind the sticks holds 2500 , so would have been 1500 approx in there. About 800- 1000 kids on Freebies , but only getting in if with an adult was with them paying a Fiver .

The best thing was the half time games and comps that they ran for these kids, absolutely fantastic. If they put stuff on like this for the kids we will be around 4500 -5000 each gamnme at home . fantastic effort by the community programme people and the club management to bring new fans into the ground .
As for the game , Toulouse were poor , will improve during the season but not enough to trouble the better teams. Next week will be a different kettle of fish , we know that .
