This allowed Wigan to sell Central Park to developers for a sum that more or less cleared their debts and to start playing in a state of the art new stadium from whence they could look down their noses at other clubs such as Cas not fortunate enough to have a local benefactor prepared to build them a new stadium. I've no doubt some Wigan fans will take issue with some of the above, but give or take a few minor details this is pretty much correct!
