A future with or without Matterson? : Sun Apr 04, 2010 9:04 pm
A big part of any building any team is developing, signing and getting the best out of each and every player in the squad regardless of their ability. Our very own Terry Matterson has been given a number of years with the club to do exactly that.

Looking forward to 2012, a new higher capacity stadium and our future in Superleague....is Terry Matterson the right man to take us forward to this new horizon. Is he the man who can get the best results for Castleford? Is he a coach that the players respect and up their game to play for? Is he gonna mentor and develop the youngsters and future of our team?

Let's see a show of hands A) B) or C) below!

The sooner he's gone the sooner the team starts challenging on the pitch again, the fact he got a new contract is completely baffling, players now want to leave because of his dire coaching.

A contract is a contract and works both ways. I do not think he should get another, but that said I do not know a suitable available replacement either.

People will slag me for this suggestion, but I wouldnt be surprised if Jimmy Lowes didnt end up being a good coach. From the successful Bulls dynasty under Smith and Elliot, plus a two year apprentiship with Tony Smith.

I think he will do well somewhere, maybe us?

Lets be honest, we are not a team that is ever likely to be filled with superstars of the game, but then again as good as it must be to have a team like that, it's not a guarantee for results. What we do need is a team that plays for each other, and a coach who knows the right buttons to press, to get the best out of each and every player.

I'd rather see an average player giving 100%, than a top player giving 50%. IMO Matterson isn't the man to get the most out of each player. Rumours suggest, he's exactly the opposite.

Some of the worst performers are the best paid and some of the best performers are the worst paid. All in all, the team is divided and a lot of which is down to Matterson.

We need a coach who can motivate players to punch above their weight and go into games determined to knock the big teams down a peg or two. Sadly, Matterson just doesn't seem to be able to do that for us.

Honestly, I think he should be judged at the end of his contract, not in the middle of a poor patch of form.

Tactically inept, defensively lacking in all departments, no manmanagement skills, look at the players who have left because he couldnt deal with them properly, has no spark or inspiration, i wouldnt let him give a half time talk to lock lane u8's, he is a puppet of the board wont stand up and say how it is, time to go should have gone 2 years ago for me and given a chance to build at the start of our franchise, but stupid contracts seem to be the fashion at Cas
