While being a saints fan I have always enjoyed watching Cas over many years and love coming over to Weldon Road and am delighted that Cas are well on their way to moving to a fantastic new stadium. The plans look great.

However a word of caution. I was involved in a small way in the campaign to get building permissions via the St Helens Council, N West Dev agency and fighting off the strong protests from Morrisons Supermarkets.

Having gone through this process I niavely expected the builders to be appointed and the construction to start.

Here we are over 18 months later and the stadium is only now about to be constructed... I now understand that there are many legal and building regulations (transport surveys, badger and protected newt surveys etc) that need to be done before any construction can start. Also funding needs to be fully in place and available and detailed discussions have to go on regarding the colour of the loo seats etc.

This has taken saints close on two years to overcome these hurdles so once all Cas's planning permissions are given it still may be a while until you see the builders go in.

Be patient guys but keep the pressure on the club and council and you will realise the dream.

Much of the stuff you talk about has been dealt with by the Outline PP granted three years ago.

i think part of saints problem was it was an entire new site, building has been on going at glasshoughton for the best part of 5-6 years and has for objectors i doubt there would be any.the only problem i can see for cas is the funding although again on sunday i was re-assured from a close friend and club official that its all their,in fact he said the money was their for everything shown in the designs and that all the extra revenue will be for is to take the ground to a better spec.
