Anyone driving down be aware that there is a major traffic problem which they said on the radio could go on all day. Basically the bottom of the M1 is shut. My advice would be if coming down the M1 leave the M1 at Northampton (J15A I beleive) and go down the A43 past Silverstone to get to the M40.

Traffic updates suggest it should be clear by the time we're all setting off so there shouldn't be too much of a problem for us. It's always good to have alternatives though!

I would always do the A43 - you also miss out all the roadworks on the M25 round Watford to the M1

I'm going down the A1 anyway to avoid the roadworks on the M1 and M25.

M1 still shut junction 4 to 1, looks unlikely to re open today.

Just been on the news that it could be weeks before that section of the M1 is open, as there may be damage to the bridge. safe travels tiger fans
