A good read and, rarely for RW, based on more facts than prayers.

It's obvious to everyone how much Castleford as a club and as a business has improved thanks to the introduction of a three-year licence, and we should get three more years to continue improving.

This is one of the main reasons why the RFL will keep Cas, they can say look how much they've improved in all areas without the threat of relegation blah blah blah.

I haven't accused anyone of lying and certainly not Opus... I have seen it first hand!

RW's article isn't a bad read, however I can't be the only one who could see the financial fall coming in 2008. For those with a bit of financial knowledge there is such thing as the Baltic Dry Index. The BDI is by all goverments regarded as one of the primary financial indicators, for forthcoming trends.

This is basically an index of key shiping rates for dry aggregate (Building) materials. Approx 85% of all building materials are sea freaighted around the world, especially to countries like the UK. The BDI dropped dramatically during the midst of 2007 inidicating a massive slow down about to occur, in the following 6 to 8 months, to both construction and housing. No movements of materials means no demand for them, which means no one is building anything!

Whilst some may say that the extent of the slow down is what caught people out. However, with the most dramatic fall in the BDI for 30+ years, it wouldn't take a genius to work out it was going to be pretty bad.

Otherwise it is a very positive statement given, and for once he isn't 'waiting on a major announcment'! LOL

If I were a Cas fan (God forbid ) I wouldn't be looking over my shoulder at the franchise decisions. That stadium might not be built yet but everything else looks great for the club - I hate this franchising business to an extent, but it does help in a fair few respects; look at your juniors, great set up, and now with a much clearer path to SL without having to worry about P/R. If Cas didn't get a franchise, serious questions would need to be raised.

I do, however, have a horrible fear that we will miss our derby for quite some time...
