Time for a Defensive coach : Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:47 pm
Couldn't make the game tonight due to just flying back in from holiday, however the score indicates a sloppy defensive effort.

Normally Australian Coaches work on defence but TM seems to have forgotten to read that chapter in the coaching manual.

Therefore is it time to bring in a specialist defensive coach to work alongside TM?

Also Ryan McGoldrick is looking like a hide and seek champion at the moment, if he's not pulling his weight he needs to be dropped into the reserves.

By the way, who played in the halves with Rangi? seemed like Shenny kept moving in from centres

Man marking, zone marking, sliding defence......what ever the style, it just wasn't there tonight.

It sounds like I'm banging the same old drum, however just like the 2nd half of the Hull KR game. Where's the team spirit has gone???

Well before we were 'dead and burried' in the game, body language of the players was again very negative. No doubt or arguement that against Leeds and Hull KR the best teams won. However, I would like to have been able to say at least we gave it our best shot, and never surrended!

Unless these guys start pulling together as a 'team' and playing for each other,' as we know they can!' we might not win another game now before the end of the season.........even the home game against Celtic!

I agree

I knew we were in for a mauling when the team first "ran" out..... Actually it was more like a slow trot/walk.

As was said last week, the body language after half time against HKR two weeks ago was shocking, anyone would think we were losing

I'm not having a go here but do Tigers fans think there might be some connection between the reported drop in contracts offered to players and the result against Leeds last night.

I've seen simular types of performancs from Trinity players as the one described by Cas fans (slow walk onto the pitch and an alarming lack of effort). It normaly follows some kind of upset within the camp and while the effects are disastrous the cause is sometimes inoccuous, eg. Trinity refusing to pay for service station meals on a trip to London.

Something needs to happen defensively. Although I'm a TM fan:

(All from Stumains site)
-4 of our 5 club record most points conceded in a match have been under TM
-3 of our 5 club record biggest defeats have been under TM
-Our average points conceded in a match under TM is 26. Only 2 other Castleford coaches have averaged worse. Even Steadmans team had a better defence!

-We have the 2nd worst points conceded this season
-Last night was the biggest defeat by any team in Super League 2009

If the players have a contagious disease, the match would have been called off. Why would they risk the opposition team, coaching staff and 15,000 fans

I like TM in many ways but I always end up coming back here with two words - with or without TM :

1) Mark 2) Aston

What he gets out of his players is truly astonishing.

I just really doubt that there is anyone with any power at the club with anything like the requsite insight to see such options.
