Tonight Feb 03/02/10 somebody tried to break into Normanton Knights Rugby Club.

However the person/persons failed to do so, so in a mindless act of criminal damage decided to to set the club alight.

It has caused a considerable amount of damage which will affect the club for sometime to come and will hinder all age groups at the club who play rugby there.

The club will endeavour to continue to play rugby at all age groups but a bit of juggling maybe involved. Normanton Knights apologise to all clubs who have fixtures at junior/youth and open age groups for any inconvienience.

The bar area is a total write off and we have no power at the moment, the changing rooms are not affected but Im unsure about hot water for the showers at the moment.

I will try to keep people informed as some local clubs will have fixtures there soon. Please be paitient as everything will be up in the air for the moment.

Sorry to hear that mate. Keep your chin up, the amateur game needs all the support it can get in this day and age as they are often run on a shoe string budget and out of volunteers own pockets etc. It may be worth approaching Cas for a whip round at the next home game as many local teams have for many years been the grass roots feeding ground for teams such as CAS. Best of luck with the recovery, let's hope whoever did it jumps off a bridge or slips into the Calder, they certainly don't have a place in our society.

I sometimes wonder about the mentality of some of the young people in this area who will happily inflict damage on the property of others with absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the people who may be affected.

When you've had a mirror kicked off the car three times and the aerial broken off twice when it's parked outside your own house it hits a point where it just becomes completely unacceptable. You report the incidents to the police and their response is usually along the lines of "Well if you haven't seen who did it there isn't a lot we can do about it." Because obviously we all have to give up our lives to guard our own property rather than ask the cops to do their job.

It's that general attitude that stinks and will result in such mindless acts of vandalism to schools, sports clubs and private property to continue. I sincerely wish Normanton Knights all the best in getting things back to normal.

Sorry to hear about Normanton club house. Whip round at next home game good idea.

Some of the youth today have no respect for anybody or anything.

Can you imagine if anybody who saw these idiots and tried to stop them in the act THEY would probably get arrested for assault!.

When you saw what happened to myleene klass for seeing off would be intruders from her house,you can see the law in this country is an ass,and the police are a waste of time
