what the derby means : Sat Jul 17, 2010 10:12 pm
I BORROWED THIS FROM ANOTHER CAS SUPPORTER AND COULD NOT HAVE PUT IT BETTER, MY EMOTIONS WERE AND ARE THE SAME AS HIS'Where do I start, well we owe them big style and I hope that a player or 2 reads this and understands who we all feel. Twice they've dealt the knock out blow and sent us down, twice we've picked our self up and bounced back.
Given the importance of getting a SL Licence for the next 3 years, tomorrow's game is arguably more important than those 2 and as I stated at the start of this post we owe them big style.
The 1st time we went down, I stood in the WRE, whilst knowing what had happened, not daring to believe it. Someone was gonna pinch me and tell me we were staying up. No-one ever did. That season though, we have to face up to it we were not good enough, by a long way. Even so it hurt...........Oh did it hurt.
The 2nd time was in some ways more painful. Half a win more and we stay up, 10 wins and we stay up and we had 9 and one draw. THat year we beat Leeds on a blazing hot day and we celebrated that victory in style but it seemed to derail our season, if we beat Wakefield in our next home game instead, we stay up........Aaaarrrgghhh!!! It's so frustrating to think how close we were. That evening at Polecat Park, I stood and watched their fans invade the pitch, taunting us, teasing us but credit to our fans that night we didn't rise to the bait. Again I stood silent, almost refusing to believe it had happened again.
Watching Cas has never been anything but a bumpy ride, but I can remember endless victories against Wakefield. The Yorkhire Cup Final with that David Plange try, when mergers were high on the agenda we hammered them on Easter Monday 80 odd nil........the list goes on.
The Jungle will be packed, I'll see friends, relatives, neighbours and work colleagues. Some will have Amber & Black on, some Red, White and Blue.
At the end of the game, we need to be the ones that are smiling whilst they are leaving feling sick and miserable. We need to give them a taste of those oh so bitter pills we have had to swallow. We have to show everyone that Castleford Tigers are THE TOP CAT
We can do it and by doing so take a step nearer that top 8 finish and let it be a catalyst for their slide down the league.
Whatever your opinions on employees, individuals, players et. lets show that we are a club united and show everyone in the rugby league world that Superleague needs Castleford Tigers!!! '
BE LOYAL BE LOUD BE CAS BE PROUD
