Easter : Mon Apr 11, 2011 9:44 am
The easter games are almost here! So, what is the best strategy for easter? A bad easter can undo in 8 days the equivalent of a months good work! The next few weeks are important.Just before easter, it's Quins away. Worst defence in the league against 2nd best attack (with a game in hand). Do we play full strength and really go for it, or rest one or two?
I have a feeling Youngquest will be out, and Isa may be out too, so we might not have too many rotation options in the backs, but in the forwards we can rotate!
I was impressed with Hudson yesterday especially in defence. Some good tackles from marker and made sure Salford got no momentum. I would play him agaisnt Quins, but rest him againt Wakefield so he can play the Saints and Leeds matches. It will also be good for Milner to get a game in. He played really well when Hudson was injured and needs to get games on a regular basis.
The two players that didn't impress me yesterday were Ferres and Aspinwall. Ferres knocked on twice and gave away 3 silly penalties resulting in 2 of the Salford tries. I can't really remember Aspinwall doing anything apart from coughing up posession on the Salford line. I know Ferres is a 2nd row/Centre/LF, and we might not have any option than to play him in the Centre (unless TM thinks someone like Blackmore or Backhouse are ready) but he needs to cut out the silly penalties. It could well cost us against someone like Saints. Time for Snitch to get a run maybe? Especially against Wakefield.
The props have been awesome this season. No sane person would rest Huby but Walker should be ready for selection again soon. We need to use him over easter if possible. Rangi showed us what he can do yesterday if the forwards give him a bit of room.
Saints have Wigan on good friday, then us on the monday. This could be our best chance in over a decade to beat Saints away!
Rangi for man of steel!
