Sorry if there is a thread on this already (but couldn't see one).

States on BBC Sport website that Bradford are interested in taking Willie Mason from Hull KR........... however it then goes onto say that they face competition from Castleford Tigers, who have a quota spot free and room on the salary cap, especially after losing Huby

Now I know he has been poor (from what I have seen and heard), but is he worth a shot on loan????????? Certainly would put bums on seats (so to speak) and could maybe give us the little boost we need.

Thoughts?????????

I think the only thing he can bring to us at the moment is a few more fans on the gate. Seems he hasn't quite got his form of NRL/Australia in years gone by.

Well in the brave new world of SuperLeague where the competition is in the boardroom rather than on the pitch bums on seats count for more than whether or not your team can play rugby (except in the capital of course where crowds are not important). This being the case if he upped our crowds by a thousand each week he'd be more use to us than if he scored 8pts a game. Sadly.

This is one signing where there are only 2 possible outcomes:
1: He bombs and plays like my mum in slippers.
2: Total cult hero and blows the opposition away.

He is not a workaday forward and never will be, he has to be loved and adored and feeds of that energy, so if he gets lit up, he will be awesome wherever he goes, if he doesn't he will sulk off to France.

For what my opinion counts for, we have no superstars or super ego's (that much) to speak of and adding one would be divisive for our squad, we are only as great as the sum of our parts and we don't need anyone thinking they're better than that.

I wouldn't touch Willie Mason with a barge pole, IMO he's a luxury type of signing in that he can excell in a very good side. But on the down side he's a proven trouble causer, how many SL sides can afford to carry such a loose cannon as him?

I was very surprised when Hull KR signed him on a reported £100,000 a year contract

Let the mercenary seek his pension fund in French rugger i say and good riddance

He doesn't need to go anywhere. Hull KR have signed a contract. Unless his contract is dependant on the Tongan passport, they've signed a player they can't play. He might just want to get drunk at their expense for a couple of years.
