"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League"
The consultation event, taking place on July 9 from 10am to 3pm at Carlton Lanes shopping centre, will give local residents the chance to share their views with the consultants and council officers leading the project. The feedback received will be used to help shape the final plans, which are expected to be completed by Autumn 2011.
Working with plans already developed by the local community, landowners and developers, the plan will consider how the town can be developed further. It will explore how underused sites in the Wheldon Road area can be used to create new housing and employment for the local community, and look at how the town centre can be further improved

George Bush says 'we are losing the war on drugs'. Well you know what that implies? There's a war going on, and people on drugs are winning it! Well what does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative motherfookers on that side."

Good, its about time Castleford learned how to go it alone and not be solely reliant on Wakefield council all the time, then perhaps the council will face up to its responsibilities to the tax paying people of Wakefield.

Castleford is part of the Wakefield metropolitan district and pay WMDC council tax, therefore WMDCs responsibilities are to all residents of the district. Now jog on. Idiot.

So in summary, you're quite happy for residents of Castleford to pay taxes to Wakefield MDC, however you don't believe any of that money should be used to support the town and should all be spent on the City of Wakefield?
To a large extent, I thought that's what happened in reality anyway...

Sorry, but, what? Its perfectly fine for WMDC to spend money raked in from Castleford, Pontefract, Featherstone, Normanton and anywhere else I've forgotten on Wakefield projects, but money raked in from those areas spent on those areas is wrong? Great idea.
Whatever happened to those plans to separate Pontefract and Castleford off and give them their own council?

Quite right pal, the government keep all the taxes from the sales of tobacco as well, unfortunately they have to foot the bill for all the medical care through people smoking which adds up to a lot more than they receive in taxes, I'm sure even somebody as blinkered as you can see analogy, congratulations on the insult btw even if it's somewhat typical and expected
