Just want to say well done to Terry and the boys on a fantastic season. The amount of stick Mr Matterson has had to put up with with certain idiots calling for his head is beyond belief. I doubt any Cas fan out there would have predicted us to finish as high as 7th and nearly double our points tally from last year. Defence has been suspect at times and our home form is definately something we need to work on, which is why I'm so pleased we have an away tie in the playoffs!!
We go into the Playoffs with nothing to prove. Just give it our all like we have for 95% of the season and we will be very difficult to beat.
The lads should be very proud of what they have done this year and although I no longer live there, I know the town of Castleford will be very proud aswell.

Onwards and Upwards. Classy Cas are back.

THE CO-OPERATIVE CHAMPIONSHIP NEEDS A STRONG WIGAN

Id stop short of proclaiming this season as fantastic, but the improvement in result and league position is to be welcomed.

Plenty of highs and lows, but i'm sure everybody would have settled for 7th at the start of the season.

Did what we had to do and no injuries. As far as I'm concerned result never in doubt. Why risk it when you don't have to?

Exceeded my expectations for this season and for that the players, the coach and everyone involved with the club need to be applauded for their effort this season which has been nothing short of magnaminous.

However, this now means they'll have to back it up again next season.

Definitely not - he was limping for 20 minutes and the 4th official knew he was switching from 18 minutes on the clock.

As for his refereeing - honestly, I didn't mind that he wasn't going to allow any pratting about at the POTB or that he wouldn't stand for anyone NOT having both feet on-side..... That said it is not enforced like that every week, but I think it is everyone else who is lax - the rules have got to be better and more stictly enforced next season becuase I have found that it has been more of a mess at POTB and offside is a joke this year.

We've come a long way this year. It's been a rough ride at times but to go from bottom one year, to top half of the table the next year is something we should be proud of.

The performance today was one of our worst of the season, although it pretty much summed up our home form. The players went out expecting an easy ride and it didn't quite happen. They ended up doing what they had to do though, but I hate ugly wins like that (although they're better than ugly defeats). Hopefully we'll be a lot better at Wigan next week.

Or maybe other refs understand that people pay 17 quid to come and watch a rugby match not to see some jobsworth enforce the rules and slow the game down every chance he gets. That ref seriously thought we had paid to come and watch him.

Maybe so Di, just what was going around in the second half.
Bit of a coincedent though dont you think.
We are talking here about a terrible performance not a poor performance.
There were definatly something in it the ref not coming out second half....injury nah i dont believe that.

I couldn't agree more with the general sentiment of this thread. The team has improved generally across the board - They have done well to make the 8 it really exceeded my expectations. TM and BOD's get a lot of hammer - but this go round we have achieved our target.

What I am most positive about is the fact that there are to be relatively few changes this off season, which helps us build.
Also, the fact that next season we are not trying to break the top 6 from the bottom four! The challenge we have next year is not to try and beat Leeds, Saints home and away - next season, in order to improve from 8 to 6 is to convert those close games we lost this year early on......
That probably sounds weird, but the challenge of trying to win the competition from 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 you are trying to fix up so many things that it is an impossible target. Our challenge is not to make our good days better - because we are good enough on our good days - our challenge is to have less off-days and play better when we're average...... I should become a qualified coach, or a manager or something – I am good at this stuff!

Good luck to the boys @ Wigan, the Pies are massive favourites, but we can go there and enjoy the occasion because we already achieved our goal.

I've only missed a couple of games and would describe the season as highly satisfying rather than fantastic. Those able to attend only the home games will probably rate it even lower.
