I agree...And would one club be dominant and keep their name (see Huddersfield and Hull)? If that was the case, would the clubs re-emerge
a la Gateshead and Sheffield?
A 'district' team just doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't represent either Wakey or Cas. It would have no identity other than branding.
I can see both teams shunning any merger and dropping down the divisions because the fans, especially the older ones (suppose I fall ito that bracket at 37!), would find it difficult to support a 'created' team over their 'natural' team.
Temporary sharing would work, over the space of a few years. Long term sharing will lead to an ultimatum from the RFL or Superleague - merge or go (that's if we're still in SL by then....).
