Excellent news about Jonny Walker. :D

Aspinwall is saying the right things and seems to come highly recommended from players who've played alongside him in the past. Matterson sees him as a player who'll help tighten our defence - something which is essential at the moment. All things considered this seems like a good signing and I'll look forward to seeing what he can do for us.

Corrected.

Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. Who needs flankers' grammar was actually correct.

HTH.

Agreed. Nothing flashy but very much a super league standard player. Just what we needed. 175k richer and not much of a difference in terms of the squad, is good business by the club

Arguably the type of player that's always been popular at Cas provided they've given 100% - nothing more (as it's impossible) and nothing less.

It'd have to be that - too much of a risk otherwise.

Not interested in him, seems to have been an abject failure at every club he's been at since us. I'd prefer us to focus on bringing through youth than getting a very average 31-year-old troublemaker who hasn't played for a year.

Trouble with getting Sculthorpe on PAYP is that we have no idea what we'd end up paying him.

We'd still have to leave aside a portion of the salary cap for the eventuality that he might get fit and make some appearances.

Yes if he doesn't play we won't have lost out financially but we will have lost out as we could have spent the money we'd earmarked for Sculthorpe on someone else who would have had more chance of playing.

I read he won't be fit for the start of the season, I think his best hope is a short term deal in the Championship (Featherstone or Halifax, maybe) to try and prove his fitness.
