Every time a British side gets beat by an Aussie/Kiwi one - either at club or international level - the most popular reason expounded by British fans is that its down to the surfeit of overseas imports into the Superleague that are blocking the development of young English players. And if you venture on to the virtual terrace you'll read plenty of comment, notably from supporters of the so-called top clubs that there aren't enough good homegrown players knocking around in Superleague.
One fact that went largely unnoticed following our game against Huddersfield 2 wks ago was that both sides had only 3 none-British players each in the 17 man squads. The same applied for Cas in their only other game and so far as I can tell Huddersfield can make a similar boast for their other games played so far.
I know its early days but the fact that both sides are sat at or near the top of the table goes to show there are plenty of good homegrown players around if you're prepared to stick with them - Hull KR & Salford take note....
HullKR squad
Cockayne, Galea, Green, Fisher, Newton, Hall, Hodgson, Netherton, Welham, Colbon, Watts, Cook, Vella, Fox, Latus, Murrell, Wheeldon, Taylor, Briscoe
Hope you've noted only 5 non British in our 19 man squad
