Hope we are not stalling on the new ground because it looks like wakefield's franchise is a no goer. I wonder what would have happened if Wakefield were given the go ahead for newmarket. I think we ould not be as relaxed about the new ground as we now seem.

To be honest people, it's a bit late in the day to still not have your funding sorted out, far less getting some concrete in the ground, and I think that's how Red Hall will view it.

You're relying on the sale of your ground to fund the building of a Super League standard Stadium. FFS, simple mathmatics state that if you don't get enough from the sale of one, and can't raise the deficit from another source, then your new stadium is never going to get built! Did your BOD give any clues that they were confident of borrowing this extra money or resolving the Xscape objections?

The "extra business" angle is a fallacy. A carpark full of Rugby fans simply means no parking for your own customers......and just how many of the RL fans are going to hang around after the game to spend some time and money? Nowhere near enough to cover your losses I would guess.

And if your new stadium doesn't get built, then your only option to remain in SL is to groundshare somewhere else. And I'd have doubts that you would get a warm welcome from Red Hall for that idea.

Tough times ahead Tigers.

The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!'

I am sure that as well as the sale of the existing ground additional funding would have been required on top of the WMDC's promised £2M. Whether or not that additional funding ever existed, or will remain in place or not, can only be speculated upon. Perhaps that may be part of the announcement in a few weeks time. Let's hope that it is, however who knows??

In regards to the position we currently find ourselves in, many powered only by common sense rather than psychic ability, could have written this outcome on a fag packet and put in a closed envelope maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I am sure that a 5 min search on this forum will find such comments.

The bigger picture is that our CEO doesn't feel that a new stadium for the start of 2012 season is an absolute fundamental (do or die) part of our franchise bid. I honestly don't know if it is or not....I am under the impression that it is, as is the media and the whole of the Rugby League community. Let's hope that we are all wrong and RW is right.

Gutterfax - Yawnion patronising Troll
Lebron James - yet another Yawnion patronising Troll, born watching the wrong sport he knows his beloved yawnion is 100 behind League so tries to talk Yawnion up and league down.

We don't need to ground share with anyone even if there were a ground share option which there isn't, our current ground is good enough for now and our application will be of an outstanding nature so iam not worried about getting a franchise.
We need the new stadium not because of a franchise but to take this club to the next level.

I think it would be pretty hard for the RFL to convince not only those in RL but also the wider sporting world that a club which ticks every box other than the shiny stadium is less deserving of a place than clubs which have only just come out of administration in the last few months.
Is not having a stadium ready for 2012 really a bigger crime than going bust?

Posibly not going bust just to get a stadium makes sense.

It sure does make sense. We want all SL clubs at least to be playing in shiny new stadiums but for teams like Cas this must not come at the cost of financial instability. We're all frustrated at not seeing steal being thrown up at GH but we'd be even more frustrated if we'd gone into administration.

Its ridiculous that a team that tops SL (with a game in hand, I know, go on - rub it in!) is uncertain about its future in the league! I agree that as far as most of the paying customers are concerned WR is a great place to watch RL - but not our besuited superiors in their ivory tower. They are typical of 21st century management - quality is secondary to presentation! Honestly, I could spit! Its like Cameron and Clegg telling us 'We're all in this together' while their corporate chums stuff their already bloated carcasses and laugh at 'common people' moaning about the cost of living and having their rights and pensions massacred.

I'm afraid that FPP will probably NOT cut the mustard as far as the RFL are concerned. IF you've got demonstrably adequate finance and time-scales in place you may get away with it, but hoping for an increase in the value of WR is not a sound financial plan. I hope for both our sakes that the RFL see the light and realise that, yes they do need to attract more paying supporters BUT at least one current SL club is going to struggle to get 5000 in for most games. Wakey and Cas both average around 7000 and take a substantial following away. Qins average - what - and take a handful anywhere. THAT should be the major yard-stick for a franchise, NOT a stadium! (Although ours really is crap and needs something better!)

Sorry about the rant, but its something I feel passionate about - best wishes for the stadium and the franchise, if they're awarde in order I hope you get the one after us!

There is a light that never goes out.

I do think it is by far the best thing to be frugal in this situation- there is no point breaking our necks for a stadium if it means we have no team to play in there! Admittedly it is very disappointing, but not wholly unexpected. I just hope the RFL see it in the same light as being a sensible decision- surely after the financial issues at Wakefield and Crusaders, they will appreciate the decision making of the board.
