Reading that more closely it would seem that the RFL are just giving some money to the Crusaders early.

"we’ve been in discussions with the RFL, who have agreed to release monies due to the club this week"

So it would seem there not exactly giving them something for nothing, this could well be their sky money for next year brought forward.

...thereby postponing the inevitable issues they will ultimately face. Surely the way forward is to try and resolve the issue now rather than borrow from the future. What happens later on when they have less to spend?

Absolutely agree with you Bonzo! I wasn't saying that what they were doing was correct, it was just how I interpretated the article.

They either hoping for a sugar daddy to come along and help bail them out or are expecting rather larger crowds than last season! I really don't see either happening anytime soon!

Crusaders have asked for rfl to think twice about any points reduction. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_l ... 149935.stm Could you imagine if they deducted 4 instead of 6 and the crusaders made the playoffs by 1 or 2 points?

In 2006 we asked the RFL not to relegate us - until we saw sense and thought better of it
