It's been a problem for years with Cas, can't hold a lead and can't pin the opponent back inside their 10 without conceding a penalty.

Cas lost because they have the worst discipline & ball control of any SL team I can remember.

What's with your bizarre hatred of Castleford? Let's have a look at the facts shall we?

Bradford have a worse disciplinary record this season having conceded 33 penalties to Castleford's 31.

Indeed, Huddersfield (41), Warrington (38), Leeds (35) and Wakefield (37) also have worse disciplinary records than Cas this season.

In 2009, Castleford's penalty haul of 206 was bettered by Leeds (215), Salford (223), Huddersfield (238) and Catalans (253). Bradford were just 5 penalties better behaved - conceding 201.

In 2008, Castleford conceded 224 penalties. Better than Huddersfield (227), Quins (228), Hull KR (230), Wakefield (235) and Catalans (255). Where were Bradford? They conceded 221 penalties - a whole three fewer than Castleford

So that's discipline - Cas averaging around the sixth worst behaved team in SL. Let's have a gander at handling errors...

Well this season, Cas have made 50. Behind Salford (51), Crusaders (53), Wakefield (55), Wigan (55), Huddersfield (55), Catalans (56), Warrington (59) and Leeds (60)

In 2009, Cas made 325 errors - the tenth worst record in the league. Who was above them? Only Leeds (338), Crusaders (340), Wigan (347), Hull KR (351), Catalans (355), Bradford (360), Warrington (367), Saints (371) and Huddersfield (373)

In 2008, Cas made 286 errors - bettered by Hull (293), Catalans (298), Leeds (309), Bradford (311), Warrington (336) and Quins (349)

But hey, don't let your blinkered hatred get in the way of the facts eh?

Higgins thought he got a forearm in the mush so tried to take the HKRs player's head off. He may have been correct, but you just have to take it on the chin, so to speak.

What a pathetic statement. I have supported Cas for 30 years, but that doesn't mean I am blind to their weaknesses & it doesn't bother me to say it or if it upsets you. They have been crap for most of every game this season. Against Leeds they were overawed, they didn't expect to win, neither did the fans. It wasn't unitl they got 8 points up in the second half that both the team & fans believed that a soft Leeds were there for the beating. Against Bradford & Wire they were shocking. I thought they showed good touches against HKR but then went to pieces when the pressure told. I think this is as weak a pack as I can remember in my time.

I was obviously wrong about discipline. hey-ho.

The more times I see the Watt try (just watched the highlights on SLTV) the more I think that a try was the correct decision.

Then again, at what point is a ball officially knocked on?

If a kick goes up into the corner and a winger knocks the ball forward but collects the ball and then grounds it then that is a knock on? Is this any different?

I can't decide. I suppose I can understand why it was awarded, but I think its a massive grey area.

I think that's the difference - the emphasis on regathering the ball (and with it regaining full control) to prevent completion of the knock-on. On this occasion, completion of the knock-on occurred when the ball hit the floor in the in-goal area.

Re: ROBBED AGAIN : Mon Mar 01, 2010 3:27 pm
Just seen it for the first time, apart from live at the game.
I thought a player had to be in full control of the ball to score a try.
Watts just stuck his hand out and hoped for the best. he just clipped the ball....if thats full control then god help us.
If that had been in the field of play it would be classed as a knock on.
