Yes.
With an extension of another 3 years to come any day now. Which will make him the highest paid Wakefield Trinity player of all time.
For what its worth i figure i heard was 125k rising 15% per year over 3 years.

Brough is a proven SL player with several years of good performances under his belt. I would say it's a safe bet to give him a long term contract.

A bigger risk would be giving someone a long term contract based on no more than 1 season of good performances. Chase, Snitch, Westerman and Mcgoldrick are the names that spring to mind!

Except McGoldrick has been here four years, Westerman is an extremely talented youngster who would probably play in most other sides (and played three years), Chase has proven his quality this season and is an important cog in our side for many years to come.

There's only Snitch I can agree with, the rest you talk rubbish. :)

hahahahahahahahahahahaha get a grip 15% rise a year that would see his final year salary hit the £190k mark that is way beyond wakefield's spending capabilities. i'm surprised you have managed to table £125k in first place to be honnest!

The point I was making was that Brough would be a safe bet for a long term deal, due to his consistently good performances over several seasons. The Cas players I mentioned were a lot bigger risk than someone of Broughs calibre.

I'm a believer in not handing out big contacts to players on the back of one good season. Many players have one good season, get a long term contract and seem to slip in into the comfort zone. Either that or teams learn to play against these players and mark them out of the game.

It takes a minimum of 2 good seasons of consistently good performances before you should start handing out these big contract.

Agree entirely, and I think Brough is worth the money if he can be kept in check. His rapid apology for breaking the club's drinking rules this season is a good sign he's maturing somewhat

Oh, I agree in terms of that wholeheartedly. Especially in terms of quota places which are now precious commodities in Super League.
