a good run out with nothing but positives especially from the youngsters, also nice to have two big wingers for a change.

daz clarke, adam milner, jordy thompson played well and despite a few mistakes i thought the young full back greg eden showed some great pace and vision and lloks promising for the future.

Does not anyone know if he is Phil Eden's son by any chance :?:

I think Greg Eden spent last season playing in Australia.

Eden's only real mistake was his first touch of the ball trying to take that wickedly bouncing kick at full pace but that was typical of the confidence he showed throughout the rest of the game and none of it was misplaced...looked a very decent prospect.

Thought Thompson had an absolute stormer, cutting through at will (as did Arundel who also used his winger well) and defending as we know he can.

Walker just sucked the juice out of the defence - don't think he ever surrendered to less than a 3 man tackle - and Davies put in a really good stint.

Credit to Rangi for an unselfish 60 mins and to Danny Orr for half a game of consumate string-pulling.

Last word however must go to Daz Clarke who just looked so comfortable/competent in everything he did and what a try....Sam Tomkins would have been proud of it.

Onwards and upwards to Batley who I suspect will provide a sterner test by which we can guage our youngsters' potential.

George Marchant, Connor Land and Jordan Gill did but they are in the age group below.

Just saved me a much longer post as it sums up the afternoon succintly and very accurately.

I've never felt so confident in such a large number of young prospects. If we keep them and develop them we'll have a Dynasty of the type Leeds and Wigan have achieved.

Superb work from the club. Well done!!

Excellent from all the guys, it was a very inexperienced side apart from Chase, Orr, Hudson, Mathers and Dixon, a lot of great potential coming through, Daz Clark oozed class when scoring a superb try, Milner had a very good all round game, Harris, Eden, Davis and all the other kids (too many to mention all individually) did very well, and as has already been said, Jordan Thompson was brilliant throughout and seems to now be fulfilling the promise he showed when he made his first appearance for us.
Also liked the look of our new signings, Jacob Emmitt, Nick Youngquest and Richie Mathers, Nick and Richie took knocks, but hopefully they should be fit when it come to the first real test of the season at Cardiff.
The future looks really bright, the future's Orange (that's Sam, who also played his part :))

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

Arundel looked quality, really hope he gets a full season of first team action under his belt, I reckon he has potential to be far superior then Shenton.

"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"

"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League"

Exactly my thoughts. The second 40 mins was a pleasure to watch.
