Rubbish situation for our game to be honest. Franchising, 20/20 type rules, the salary cap were supposed to protect clubs from this kind of situation and allow them to manage and budget effectively. Especially in year 3 or a 3 year license, this should be the safest year, unless the business plan was seriously flawed or the spent hugely? Neither of which looks likely as the squad was still similar last year, gates and prices similar - which means the worst of all possible scenarios for a fan - that someone upstairs or in beancounter world caused this.
When we went down we remained solvent and strong as a business core, becuase our demise was on field under achievement, so we were able to put things together and bounce back.
I have no real interest in Wakey as a supported, except I enjoy the local derby and I will miss them if they don't get a license. It's very very sad.
On a slightly different note, I am actually more worried about Salford on the field - they feel very much like is when we went down (not trolling I have friends personally there)..... There is no good reason why the individuals in those shirts should be so average, out of sorts or poorly performing, but like when we had our first relegation, it just looked very negative and invididuals trying too hard and playing and acting out of character.
When all is said and done, when Cas beat people, I want it to be because we were stronger, wanted it more and won, it doesn't serve anyone if there are clubs in our division being whipped becuase they are crap, it does nothing for us all.
