This situation presents a very unusual moral dilema. Personally I would be disappointed if Cas were to feast from corpse if I'm honest. That said if a truly world class player was available, I can see that it would be difficult for a club like Cas to pass up the opportunity.
Fortunately I don't think there is anyone at Wakey that would be worth losing your principles over so hopefully we wont get involved.

It's times like this that the rivalry the RFL has forced upon Cas and Wakey with the advent of franchising pails into insignificance and we should be helping wherever we can.

I reckon I could find at least 1 Wakey fan to come down the Lane on a regular bases. :SUBMISSION:

Enjoy playing Swinton next year.

Nah, i'll go next year when you play them. Got a few Swinton mates so i'd find it particularly amusing to see them turn you over.

Saying that, they were a top side once upon a time!

You lot in the Championship might spice things up a bit, a nice game versus Fev to look forward to, watch yourself a POR though, they're not very welcoming!

Good to see that some can see a moral dilemma.
It has been pointed out that Wakefield and others have previously benefited from the demise of other clubs i.e. relegation, but this is a different scenario. The players are not free agents, their contracts are still valid and Trinity have (hopefully) a full SL season in front of them in which they need to field a competitive team for the good of the league and other teams as much as themselves.
I'm sure if the clubs waited to the end of the season they could have the pick of the whole squad for free, but this is the era we now trade in.
The administrators are only doing their job and until the buy-out is official they can only assume no deal is in place. As O'Hara's say if an offer comes in for a player they cannot justify not accepting it, but there's the issue; if no offers were received they'd have to look elsewhere to try and recoup funds.
What I would find most unpalatable would be for players signed under these circumstances then going on to fail to claim a regular first team place.
I'm sure when the deal is finally done we will find the good side of the RL community in other teams offering loan players to get through the season.
Enjoy being top of the league; and if you could see your way to beating Huddersfield and staying there for another week that would be most appredciated.

Re: Vultures : Wed Feb 16, 2011 9:07 am
Rubbish situation for our game to be honest. Franchising, 20/20 type rules, the salary cap were supposed to protect clubs from this kind of situation and allow them to manage and budget effectively. Especially in year 3 or a 3 year license, this should be the safest year, unless the business plan was seriously flawed or the spent hugely? Neither of which looks likely as the squad was still similar last year, gates and prices similar - which means the worst of all possible scenarios for a fan - that someone upstairs or in beancounter world caused this.

When we went down we remained solvent and strong as a business core, becuase our demise was on field under achievement, so we were able to put things together and bounce back.

I have no real interest in Wakey as a supported, except I enjoy the local derby and I will miss them if they don't get a license. It's very very sad.

On a slightly different note, I am actually more worried about Salford on the field - they feel very much like is when we went down (not trolling I have friends personally there)..... There is no good reason why the individuals in those shirts should be so average, out of sorts or poorly performing, but like when we had our first relegation, it just looked very negative and invididuals trying too hard and playing and acting out of character.

When all is said and done, when Cas beat people, I want it to be because we were stronger, wanted it more and won, it doesn't serve anyone if there are clubs in our division being whipped becuase they are crap, it does nothing for us all.
