How the moderators of other forums choose to operate is completely at their discretion - a certain level of interpretation is permitted with the running of each board as aluded to in the Acceptable Usage Policy. There are also rules stating what we can and cannot ban people for.
On this board, the moderators are not only very busy people with better things to do than be carers to bored keyboard warriors; but we also believe that as the majority of users are adults, that they are capable of exercising restraint and behaving in such a manner that should promote a healthy atmosphere, not far removed from what you might find in a local pub for example. Whilst this isn't always the case, were every underhand comment to result in a ban, it would be a much quieter, far less interesting place to visit.
It really is quite simple - stick to the rules; act like adults rather than spoilt kids; don't feed trolls (if you ignore them, they disappear); and don't say anything on here that you wouldn't say in person.
And again...
2.2. Public criticism of the moderation process is prohibited.
