Yes, I would use the word 'smokescreen'. At best, the timing had staggeringly fortunate consequences for your club's franchise application wouldn't you say?
Incidentally, around this time the Wakey messageboard (sorry, I mean that part of RLFans which some people think of as 'the Wakey bit') was full of indignant Wakey fans calling the council leaders various shades of evil for not making any announcement
in the run up to the franchise decisions being made. Funny? I almost had a seizure...
But one thing I'm absolutely positive about is that, if Cas do end up having to try and pull the same trick, it'll be the Wakey fans who'll be first in the queue to moan about it.
Just going to ignore the £20,000 spent by the council then?? and stick to your smokescreen theory!?
p.s really doubt wakey fans will be that bothered to be honest, as long as 'we' are ok that is!
