I think the best part about this is that is SHOULD force the club into making a statement to spin the bad news around into good news, hopefully that means clarification on the appointment of an architect. I won't hold my breath though

Hope everything works out Tigers.
Although for what it's worth i don't think a few years at Newmarket Lane would be the be all and end all. Look at it this way, if it pans out like that and you commit to a temporary tenancy at least you will be in a new stadium for 2012 and will have 3 years breathing space to find the funding to either redevelop The Jungle or move elsewhere. You have a committed fan base as we saw with the 2 dips into the Championship, it's easy to say you would walk away, harder to do. I know I've said it with regard to my club enough, never mean it though.

As i said i hope you well and hope you will note how much support you have got from your "old enemies". And it's not about point scoring or a race, i genuinely feel for you after being lead down the garden path... Hope you have a good season...Derby games apart.

I was told off my mate who works opposite the ground 18 months ago that palermo (sic) had pulled out of buying the jungle because of the recession and the fact it was in there words a flood plain, i posted on here and was called troll, bitter fev fan etc, if my mate knew then so did RW, in my opinion he has been stringing the fans and RFL along with spin and nothing statements. Only a few weeks ago he was opening the new place at xscape where people could go look at the design etc. he must of known it wasnt going to happen, i would be very surprised if anything gets built at glasshoughton other than a warehouse. If i were a cas fan i would be booting down that boardroom door at the next game because that man has been drip feeding you bull for a long time

I know you try to act like some kind of sage but that's very old news, Suggy.
They never pulled out because of a flood plain but the reason was very much 'the recession' .......
Palomo Ltd went into administration in August 2009?

did your mate not tell you that ?? :SUBMISSION:

RW and a few dozen others have known this for 5 months hence the coded comments about the size of stadium. :SHHH:

Fair does, what's plan B? how could you finance a redevelopment of WR though? As other people have said i think the RFL won't take to either of us "moving the goal posts" over the stadiums very well, because for the vast majority of RL fans thats what it's going to seem like if either of us ask for more time.

Moving in with wakey would lose us our franchise, we would stand a better chance staying at WR. The only ones that would benefit would be wakefield as they have a stonger case for calling it a community stadium then (wheras at the moment it will be a wakefield stadium with the possibility that some amatuer sides will play some games there). And your making a rather big assumption that wakey will be in the new stadium for 2012, something there are no gaurentees of, especially if the goverment calls in the planning.

True, but the finances are there to build it. There is the critical difference. But thats pie in the sky until after we have submitted for planning permission.
Anyways banter aside, nobody wants to lose the derby days, so all the best

Sorry but this does worry me. Only a few weeks ago we were being told it was all on course for architects, planning permission going in and build to start around July. Now we're only gonna build two sides and weren't we supposed to have announced the architects by now ? Nearly a month on and not a word.

Also why has nothing been put on the official website ?

All great points which succintly illustrate that as far as a new stadium goes, we are being led along with nothing definite ever outlined let alone accomplished.

This announcement does at least stop the pragmatic amongst us clinging on to vague proposals.

I'm not saying it will never/can't happen, but as things stand I'd expect a continuous string of setbacks and delays.

Depending how other clubs shape up (i.e Wakey/Salford re: stadiums; Crusaders in general etc.) will certainly determine whether or not we get another franchise.

I personally think you will.
If Stade or Toulouse get very serious, you may be in trouble.
Crusaders will go well in Wrexham imo so from my perspective, count that one out.

You both still score fairly well on criteria if you have another decent season, I think you're in: just.

Re: Latest stadium up date : Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:06 pm
Why would you build a stadium with just two sides, its like a barn without the doors . From day one the funding was not there and in this present climate there is no chance . If we have a plan B it should of been brought forward months ago, did we really have a plan B . The fact is Castleford Tigers are going to have to go to the RFL cap in hand, if it works great we get more time . If we lose the franchise i do not see us ever getting back to top flight Rugby league .

My fear is the BOD of Castleford Tigers are letting us all down lightly to lesson the blow . But one fact for sure is when we were in NL1 the club made more money .
