"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

Re: Tonight's match : Sat Jul 16, 2011 11:15 pm
I posted my thoughts in full on the Silverwood thread, but the main thrust was:

WE STUNK today!
Then Quote me from another thread........:
"We deserve a top 8 berth, but you have to earn your just reward and I think we might be capable this season.

Got one when we didn't really earn it tonight, but it will show us with 2 more points in the paper tomorrow and now we can prepare for Huddersfield...... Are they favourites, of course, but can we rock them, sure we can and if we execute and we play to our potential, we can win - unlike tonight when we stunk but we earned our dollars ugly and hard.

On balance, the best you can get from any game is 2 points, we got them - so forget the game, the money is in the tin.

Night all. "

Aside from a couple of tackles when Crusaders have broke through.

I think the problem lies with the people in front of him.

I disagree. Mathers attitude has been wrong for years. In a dominant team he can be a world class FB, as he showed in his early days at Leeds & briefly in his latter days at Wire. Unfortunately that is not the case at Cas & his commitment at times is awful. The 2 occasions where Crusaders players chipped him he made half-hearted attempts to pat them with his arms as they passed but as the move continued he just trotted back in that cocky can't be arsed manner I find so frustating instead of busting a gut to try & prevent a score.

FWIW I think Mathers has been very good for us this season.

However, over the past couple of games he has been pretty poor, not sure if its personal issues or whether he is carrying a knock or what.

McGoldrick seems to be finding his form again which is good

Q: What did the five fingers say to the face?

A: SLAP!!

Re: Tonight's match : Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:21 pm
Some of our fans seem to have been a bit quick to trash Mathers after a few average displays but I would keep faith in him based on the bulk of what I have seen which up until the last few games has been mostly top class.
Also IMO he has been very good at building team morale behind the scenes and with his experience of the grand finals and Challenge cup finals and winning attitude could be invaluable now that we are at the sharp end of the season.
Its up to him to prove his doubters wrong so lets hope he chooses this weekend to get going again.
COME ON RICHIE!

Wouldn't say you you didn't deserve to win. Your go forward was a lot better than Crusaders. Danny Orr had a shocker tonight. Not sure if Sammut was actually even onside for his interception. He creeps up early every tackle and looks like he's doing this when he scores.

I thought that too tbh.
