It sounds on this post like most of the Cas fans on here have thrown the towl in.What happened to the saying “Castleford till I die”?
As a neutral watching this game, I have to say it was a great match to watch.
Barrow turned up, for this game, so up for it and confident.
They are also an extremely well drilled team and showed their intent crossing
the line in the first few minutes. Cas spent most of the first half having to tackle and
it took a bit out of them.
On a positive note for Cas they won everything in the air.
It helped them get the three quick scores and open a 16 point lead.
What they failed to do was exploit the move and try again in the same corner.
Barrow struggled to prevent the Cas off load which was very effective at times and nearly always
gained you 70 yards on each set. Your completion rate looked good.
There is no disgrace loosing to a great Barrow team.
The problem with the Cas team was during the off loads, restarts, set moves, penalties I counted a few, often more than 4 Cas players not looking at the ball. They were slow getting back to defend and this presented gaps. I think that had this been addressed there might have been less errors and the need to give away penalties would not have been so great. This was made worse by the few who were slow to get back and Barrow were a big threat each time you gave them a penalty.
This is not the biggest problem in the world and I sure Cas will learn a lot from this game.
One or two players might depart and new blood come through.
I think the Coach will have also noticed this and kick butt where needed.
In my opinion I think Barrow would beat several Superleague Clubs with the team they
have today.
