SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Still struggling to see how a game definitely going ahead is worse for anyone concerned than hoping that the weather forecasters are right.
A game definatley going ahead with a small crowd, isolated from most fans, As opposed to a game almost certain to go ahead in front of a much larger crowd i know which option makes the sport look better and more proffesional and it isnt the one in leigh. We are supposed to be building up the international game not watering it down, which is exactley what this knee jerk panic reaction has done. Still as i've said the decision, even if its clearly the wrong one has been taken now so theres nothing we can do now, hopefully they can do a better job next year and put it somewhere it will get a decent crowd.

Correct , risking having players injured on a potentially dodgy surface would be a great idea to build up internationl RL
Bollox , I've had enough of this
Wheldon Road is a dump , right , a dump , how you got the game in the first place is a complete mystery , yes you have two players playing in the team including the captain , but that is no reason to risk those players and others who have traveled half way around the globe , if you cannot attend the match at Leigh , tough , yes you might get a game in the future , if you ever get your stadium at glasshougton built , the one that has been being built for about 3/4 years now
But if you dont , then most likely you wont , I know in the past I've moaned about some pretty petty and stupid things , but you really are an idiot

Wheldon road in your opinion is a dump, some might think your council lego kit is probably quite crap as well, all opinions see. The surface wouldnt have been 'dodgy' keep pretending that if you like it doesnt mean it will ever be true (like you keep pretending the the rfl changed the rules to get us back into sl because you half remember a document from the last century saying something differant to the rules in 2005). Cas havent been fortunate enough to have a council build them a stadium so in the middle of a global recession things are moving slow, as they are with nearly everything being built around the world. The reason we got the game is because the rfl knew we would get a good attendance, the rfl knew that leigh wouldnt be able to do that so they didnt give them any of the games.
Calling someone an idiot because they disagree with you? looks like arguing with smokey is rubbing off on you, your sounding more like him everyday.
The stadium is only a part of the whole LSV project, the council did underwrite the financial package to ensure it went ahead, but the actual funding came from several sources including the council (but this funding was from the sale of existing play areas in and around the Leigh area for development), some of the others I remember off the top of my head were, Greenbank, sale of land owned by Leigh Harriers, Wigan and Leigh College, Leigh East, BARLA, Education grants, Sports England, the FA, European funding, London 2012 Olympic funding, British waterways and even Leigh Centurions have (if memory serves me right) an 11% share in the place, that’s the village not the stadium.
All these investors have shares in LSV Co at the percentage level to which they have invested.

So the council paid for the majority of it with a few other sources thrown in? i take it you agree that without help from your council it wouldnt have been possible?
Be grateful you have a council that are prepared to support sport in your area, ours arent.
And bob cant do ours, he's been laid off due to the recesion.

It would, freezing weather and all that.

And you've heard this from which RFL official? Maybe the RFL just chose Cas cos it was 40% cheaper for the stadium rental than Leigh?

I wont call you an idiot, but you're certainly deluded. 2000

AFAIK the 'others' have a combined greater share than the council and therefore paid for the majority of it but I agree that without them and likewise every other partner it wouldn't have happened.
Who's funding yours?
Sorry to hear about Bob he did a great job in Leigh
