I haven't read every post on this entire thread, but:
Would it work for us to allow Wakey to use Glasshoughton in an agreement like they were going to use Oakwell or Saints are at Widnes?
I mean, this could give us a lucrative revenue stream to underpin the project, the stadium will have a stadium management company, who would benefit from the match day sales, plus a rental agreement with a fixed term for Wakey to figure out their future.
So, taking out emotion: It is not a share, it is an alternate exactly like Saints, it gives Cas income guaranteed for a term to offset the build costs. Nobody loses their identity, because it is not like Inter and AC Milan, it is not a shared stadium.
Without a furore or all the emotion, if I was a pure business man and not a fan of either club - I fail to see any loss on any side. If at the end of Wakeys agreement, they're no longer franchised, could they continue in NL1 to rent, sure - if they do build a stadia, then the agreement can end.
The only thing a carefully managed agreement like this should do is underpin costs for Cas to launch the project. It is like building a block of flats and having a tennant for half of them before you lay a brick?
Fire away everyone, I am sure that this will upset some, but you have to think selfishly and sometimes, the long game is the most lucrative, even if it is difficult.
