I was stood in a few yards away from a bloke, possibly same bloke as you I don't know, who said something along the lines of 'Why is he MOM? Surely that is an insult to the guys who have played 80 mins all game?'

I don't agree with him, Westie was given MOM as a sign of respect, but I doubt he meant it in a malicious or distateful way, at least I hope he didn't. Get well soon Joe.

Don't think Gilmour is a particularly dirty player but it may be something for the Disciplinary panel to look at. Hope westerman makes a speedy recovery, our games had enough to cope with over the last 6 months.

There was nothing wrong with the tackle, just watched it on SkySports News. If there was something in it, you would have been able to tell by the reaction to the tackle of the Cas players, who were a lot closer and had a better view of the incident than either you or me.

Cannot see any saints player being dirty or malicious,

i cant believe what people are saying. watch the tackle again, and keep an eye on gilmour's left forearm why he has made connection with JW jaw when he does'nt have the ball is dirty. JW was out before he hit the ground and gilmour didnt go for the ball he just swung at JW head. I cant believe people can argue with what is right in front of you. slow it down its BAD!!

Standard? if that was a standard tackle for Gilmour he would never play, a swinging arm hitting a players chin is a penalty, a late high tackle is a sending off, so he deserves 3 games at the very least.

standard tackles dont hit jaw high! and it was so late that the players didnt even notice that joe was in trouble and carried on playing!!

It wasn't a swinging arm or a high tackle. If the injury hadn't have happened, I doubt it would even be mentioned. It was just unfortunate that Westerman picked up an injury of some sorts.

Give over, the impact was absolutely nothing. It was the floor that hurt him, which could happen in any incident where someone falls to the floor in a game. As Cas' coach suggested, it's just one of those things that happens from time to time in impact sports. Fortunately it appears Joe Westerman is okay, that is the main thing.

Maybe because he would probably get fined by the RFL if he said "it was a shocking tackle" or "dangerous play by Saints"?

No, not really, if he just isolates the one incident and explains his reasoning then I would imagine he'd be fine, however, if he had gone off on one a la morgan the other week thats when you find yourself in trouble.

I think that was just a gesture.

Lets be honest there werent one player on the cas side deserved MOM.

pro RL players have to much respect for each other for it to be malicious , i have yet to see it . clumsy maybe but doesn't sound like gilmours style of play to me.
