1 The other concern about a stitch up is the possibility of 'pubic health funds' being channelled towards the stadium.
2 How does building a 'community stadium' mainly for the benefit of a private rugby team best meet public health objectives?
3 Instead of getting involved with grandoise schemes these officials should consult with local people and consider the alternatives. Why not allocate these public funds to things such as:
- providing more nutricious food to the elderly by offering wider meals and wheels and community centre funing
- providing better fitness equipment and training in primary schools
- providing additional nutritional training in schools and community centres
- providing grants for gym equipment for amateur sports clubs throughout the area and encourage the local comunity to use them
- provide smaller fitness facilities close to where people actually live.
In this way people with other RL preferences like Cas fans or with no RL affiliations at all can benefit from the use of public funds rather than it go into a stadium for one local professional side. Otherwise it does appear like a 'stitch up'.

1 There are no public funds going directly into the scheme.
2 It is a 'Community Stadium', i.e. there will be a trust owning it and running it as they see fit, including the training facilities, all weather pitch and other facilties which are hoped for. Plus - even if public funding were involved, can you not understand the correlation between health and activity? This is a well recognised and much used system - including the famous 'yacht' in Hull!
3 The public have been cosnulted many times - the answer they got was that assistance was needed towards the facilties available to our local rugby league teams. What's wrong with that?
Many apologies to the Cas fans for this ending up a 3-way 'discussion'!
