Without getting involved in arguments with specific individuals on here I just want to state what the facts are, not the facts through amber and black glasses.
Newmarket will eventually get built! ( 2 years from now, at a conservative estimate). Obviously this will be too late for Wakefield and will more than likely cost us a license to Widnes.
Glasshoughton will not in the near future get built, the money is just not there and you can't just magic millions £s of private money up! No amount of apperances from Dicke Wrong on Glasshoughton pit stack with hard hat and high vis jacket on will change that, you've used that card already. The RFL are know exactly what agenda they are working to, after previous broken promises from Cas you have failed to deliver on the stadium...FACT! You along with Wakey and Salford received a warning letter from the RFL, regarding fulfilling promises about stadium facilities. by promising then failing to deliver you have set yourselves up for the chop! Cas will lose there franchise to Halifax, remember you heard it here first. Widnes will be announced in a few weeks then Halifax will be announced in a couple of months, Wakey and Cas will be out in July! Enjoy your day in the sun! Obviously time will tell if I'm right but remember where you heard if first!
I this the same Halifax that have run without a second team, or youth set up for the last license period, the same Halifax that only reached the average crowd figure by giving out free tickets to one match and increasing the attendance that day by near on 90%. The same Halifax where parts of the ground are shut due to to them being unsafe.
The fact is and Im not begrudging them this, is that Halifax poured all their money into the first team in the last few years and still only won one trophy, this applies to Barrow too, which is why in the RFLs eyes Widnes are the chosen ones, they have put in place solid structures, with youth development etc and still managed to win a trophy.
I would imagine that Cas have improved just about every area of their application this time round and to me seem to be steadily improving as a club, ok the stadium is still not sorted, but in reality we all know this is down to the Economy. To me Cas have demonstrated exactly what the franchises were brought in for, steady progression all this on the back of relegations. Wakefield on the other hand as business have been in steady decline or at best stayed stagnant, granted they now have a new owner, however I feel this will be too little too late, you can not really judge what Mr Glover can "deliver" in such a small amount of time, or indeed whether he could consistently deliver over the long term.
One thing is for sure the RFL will get stick who ever goes lol
