Rugby League World article : Sat May 02, 2009 6:07 pm
Not sure if it has been mentioned on this forum, but has anyone read the excellent article about Cas? Interesting comment from Richard Wright about the stadium...

"We have been looking for additional investment and have found a potential partner which could be a catalyst for moving forward"

"We are also marketing the naming rights for the stadium and have interest from some companies..."

I've not read the article but hope things are moving forward soon with this potential partner. It'll be interesting as to what name the stadium might get.

Glad you think it's an excellent article. We think so too :)

Well worth reading if you haven't picked up a copy yet.

I spoke to a few people on Sunday who said they really like the Jungle and that it will be a shame if and when we move out of there.

Incidentally, a Hull fan I was talking to before the first match said he never really understood why we don't stand in the Princess Street stand for home games. I'm still not sure why that didn't work out either.

I've stood in the princess street stand a few times (mailnly 2004 when they first turned monkey munch into a bar, and we drunk it dry :D ) however i've always found the atmosphere in there pretty none existant.

Would be good to fill it for home games and i could see a fair few decisions go our way if everyone went in there.

I love our ground and, although the name has grown on me, i still prefer Wheldon Road as our stadium name. Obviously that would change when we move, so how about naming it after a true legend of the club?

Although no doubt it will be called something stupid like "The Atlantic Solutions Stadium" or "The GPW Recruitment Stadium" or even worse... "The Grattan Stadium"

I've stood in there a few times as well and the view is great but like you said there was no atmosphere. Convincing the WRE lot to shift just didn't really work which was a shame. It's too late now I suppose (though if anyone decides to ever give it a go again, I'll be there  ), but hopefully in our new stadium we'll set up base down the side of the pitch from the first game.

Yeah, The Jungle was something I really hated at first, but it has grown on me as well. I was surprised they didn't return to calling it Wheldon Road again once the Jungle.com sponsorship ended but I suppose people will call it what they want.

As for the new stadium, they can sell the rights to the highest bidder as far as I am concerned. I think the Xscape Arena has a nice ring to it though.

Unfortunately the first thing we need is a stadium, irrespective of what it's made of.
