Widders : Mon Sep 21, 2009 1:09 pm
Does anyone know why Dean Widders didn't play?
Not heard any mention of why he was missing.
Deano has been excellent for us and proved to be a real game breaker, I feel sure he could have made all the difference if he had been selected (as could Raz if he had been fit), I'm assuming that he must have still been carrying a knock, but I would have thought the slight knock he was said to be carrying to miss the Celtic game must have surely healed by now?

We've got an awful lot of sideways runners at Cas, and it's players like Widders who run the angles well and get the momentum going forward and past the oppositions defensive line. He's definitely been good for Cas and I'd like to see him come back fighting fit for the 2010 season.

I loved him in that Russel Crowe doc but when ive seen him for youguys this year he's looked hopeless! tbf to the guy I think he was at centre for a couple of those but he was danced around like the may pole.
Im assuming you've retained him, how olds the fella now? IMO you guys should go for Danny Tickle, think he'd do ya a reet job

Widders was a good player this season, especially when coming of the bench and is better then Danny Tickle imo.

Touche.
I've probably not seen enough of him, but the games i've seen he seemed a bit of an unfit turnstyle.
I'll keep a closer eye next year, like I said, he was a right character on that South Sydney thing.

Alot of cas fans saw his build and wrote him off as unfit, in reality i think thats just his build.

When he needs to he has shown pace that stuns everyone(this being the best exampleSorry you cannot post links to that site-read the AUP), scored a good 40m try after outpacing 3 salford players too. He sets up tries too when needed and has done some really good work in defence (against hudds, at centre he made 40((they ran at him all night) tackles and iirc didnt miss one). I can think of at least 3 games this year we probabley wouldnt have won without.

Personally i'm quite pleased that he is generally under rated by opposition fans, just for the looks on there faces when he does something special.
