planning for the jungle : Tue Jan 05, 2010 4:21 pm
I know this is probably going over old ground, but on one of the threads on the wakey board the question of planning for the jungle has come up and I just wondered if any one on here new if the jungle has had planning permission granted to build houses or not. Posters on the wakey board think not as hicksons still holds its chemical licence but I thought I had read in the express about 12 months ago that planning had been granted but I could be wrong, does anyone know for sure either way?

Are they getting their information from the same planning regs that say their should be no problem building industrial units on greenbelt?

i don’t know but some people on the wakefield website do seem to be the font of all knowledge with matters regarding cas and the new ground  , but I don’t know the answer to this one myself so I just thought I would ask.

No planning permission, its all down to the chemical licence being withdrawn, whats up with the wake mob and their fixation on us  they want to be more worried that the tax bill has been paid (24th jan was the deadline  )

The Chemical licence is still in place and nothing can happen with Hickson's or The Jungle until it has been revoked.

IIRC the land the company that owned Hickson's applied for outline planning permission but then hit financial trouble but sold it on to someone else who's determined to push forth with plans. If this can be clarified it would be good, please?

There's no fixation about what is or isn't happening re Cas at all.

The issue came up as another poster thought they had heard that the sale of BV & associated planning had fallen through. We know this to be incorrect as Wakey have already received a good deal of cash for BV, but I recalled seeing another thread a few months ago (not sure if it was your board, ours or the VT) about the withdrawal of a planning application for the Hickson's site and the knock-on (no pun intended) effects for the sale/redevelopment of The Jungle.

If the poster raising their question had got their "info" from someone who knows little about RL (let alone how much of a divide there is between your town & our city  when it comes to our wonderful sport) then I'm sure you can see how the confusion could have arisen.

As I said on the thread in question - I do hope that we both get our new grounds (with the Wakefield ground being completed first of course  ) but I do get the distinct impression that Richard Wright is being a better spin doctor than Alistair Campbell and that many Cas fans would be very surprised with how far behind the true position is to the PR story given by RW at every occasion.

Hmmm, having only been on RLFANS for less than a year, you've obviously not read many old threads then. Anyway...

Oh yeah, still getting used to this 2010 business and thinking of 2008 as last year. My point still stands though, that 12 months difference doesn't change it much at all.

I'd agree that in the past (particularly around the time of the Thornes Park fiasco) that there was an element of fixaton by Wakey fans about stadium progress at Cas, but IMO that is no longer the case.

Personally, I see both proposals at roughly equal stages of progress and that should mean that there can be a good amount of friendly banter between both sets of fans over the next 18 months or so as we will all want to get bragging rights at each stage of the build and of course over who's ground is completed first.

It's the future that matters now for both clubs - not the mudslinging and paranoia that some fans (of both sides) have had in the past.
