New signing for 2011 : Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:14 pm
Here in peace. Well done today. Got a mate who's playing with gb community lions who's been told you've signed johnny Campbell from batley on a two year deal next season. Ex thornhill full back very pacy and I reckon he could be a very exciting prospect given the correct coaching. Expect you'll have signed for the wing with mathers already signed up.

Corrected.

Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. Who needs flankers' grammar was actually correct.

HTH.

Our last 2 signings from Batley have been good ones! Hopefully he will be too. Will he have a winners medal after today? He can show that to the rest of the team. The NR cup is something we didn't win!

Wigan have announced a trio of signings from Melbourne Storm

It is concerning me that we don't have anyone other than Mathers signed up for next season. Why aren't we taking advantage of Melbournes downfall?

If we don't act quickly we will find ourselves in the same situation we have for the past few seasons. Leaving it too late and ending up with players like Clayton!

There are 13 other teams in Super League that will be looking eagerly towards the Storm and their situation. Add to that in the other NRL clubs we have very limited chance of competing with one sides.

The one thing I'm proud of is that I see all these other clubs exploiting loopholes and signing up Australians and yet Cas are building towards an all-English team.

Yup, this can only work in our favour come licence decisions, especially with the number of youngsters we've brought through this term

Indeed. We're currently running on three quota positions, four overseas if you count Evans. We've had a total of 11 homegrown players (Owen, Shenton, Huby, Westerman, Davies, Arundel, Milner, Walker, Massey, Thompson, Holmes) play some part this season, not forgetting Ferres who is a Cas lad too.

Can't speak for the other teams but currently it is expected that we will be releasing 4 quota players and bringing 3 in (of which they are a much higher quality imo).

Add to that the number of youngsters that are regular first teamers, another 5 or 6 who have platyed some part this season, and another 5 or 6 who are out on dual-reg with Widnes and Blackpool.

Yes, but how many of those are going to be shipped out again. Not all youngsters will make it but the point is, Wigan have let so many good players from their own academy go in the past for Aussies and they seem to be doing it again.

I'm not having a go at Wigan - they're well within the rights to fully use the rules/loopholes just as other clubs. But it just smacks of doing it for the sake of it, especially for a club that has just seen the likes of Mossop, Tuson and Sam Tomkins come through the ranks.
