I think it's going to be a huge success - 7 great games for fans who have been starved of SL action for four months? The only thing that could upset it is the weather imo
The fans hunger for action, and the derby aspect is the positives.
There are far more negatives that will weigh heaivily in peoples minds. Here's a few.
I would think that the 400 mile round trip would be off putting when considering the much spoken about cost of fuel at present. Especially so close after Christmas, when most aren't too flush withcash anyway....never mind the current economic climate....etc etc
As a family game, kids will be at school Friday and many of us will be at work. Hence the thought of a 200 mile journey on Friday night (after work) or Saturday morning is not too apealing. Especially if the temperatures are in the minus figures and roads are icey etc.
Monday is a normal school day and work day. So a 200 mile drive home on Sunday night, in order to be ready for Monday is not all that appealing. Neither will using a day of holiday from work.
One of the enjoyable aspects of this normal Bank Holiday event is having a few beers, a jovial atmosphere in the streets and making a weekend of it. However it could potentially be 'brass monkey cold' on the streets and many will have to drive home on Sunday meaning no beer time.
Don't even get me started about it historically being the worst time of the year for snow.
All the above, more than ever point towards people opting to watch it on TV.
I have a hat on standby, and I am prepared to eat it if we don't see the lowest attendance figures of any of these events.....Gazemous are you perpared to stand by your optomistic view of the RFL's wonderous planning and do the same? (Mine is a is a kiss me quick hat....chewy but low in calories LOL)
