Richie Mathers : Sat May 21, 2011 4:08 pm
Must say, I have been quick to get on his back in the past. Seemed to be a big 'I am', did nothing to really impress and has a face I could slap more than once.

But since signing for Cas, for what I've seen him, I've been very impressed indeed. He is safe under the high balls, strong in the tackle and a good link in the attacking line. Seems to have less pressure on his back and is playing the best rugby I have seen him play.

Thought he had a terrific game today especially in the second half. Gutted we lost but well done Cas a great game for all the right reasons today. Just hope the people that run the game see them as well.

He would have been my choice as man of the match as he was the one to get the inspiration levels up. His ball return was excellent and he was always prompting the players to keep their heads up when things were not going our way. Also a very big rap for Fozzard for the ammount of work he got through.

MOTM for me, made massive inroads every carry and knows how to play the ball at speed.

Bloody good looks to match too :(

Have to disagree with you here as IMO Richie has always been a very talented player, i always think that he is a stand off in denial because he really is that good offensively.

I recall him playing 6 against the Aussie schoolboys at Headingley as a junior and he was sensational there. He was also a great player for the Rhinos, if you could only bottle his enthusiasm

I will always regard Richie Mathers as a local lad that made good, i always follow his career and am glad for him that his time at both Warrington and now Cas are proving very successful

The point that is well wide of the mark is that you believe that he was a Big i am well take it from me that you could never wish to meet a more humble and down to earth kid

Chase got mom? Mathers and Veivers were great at full back for both sides, Fozzard, Emmitt, Henderson and Mariano played better than Chase. Great ad for the game on TV today, without the best skill levels being shown this was a true cup tie.

Mathers is having a fine season, defo seems to have found his spiritual home.

As for people having a go at the skill level( BTW i think Wakey didnt make more than 5 mistakes), take into account the amount of pressure out there it wasnt just a cup game its was one hell of a grudge derby. Played mostly by 2 squads full of kids.

Well done Both teams

He licked his ar$e during the game, it was obvious where the MOM award was going.
