THE CO-OPERATIVE CHAMPIONSHIP NEEDS A STRONG WIGAN

2011 attendances : Mon Jun 20, 2011 10:04 am
1. Wigan 16863
2. Leeds 14747
3. Bradford 14251
4. Hull 12363
5. Warrington 10779
6. Hull KR 8361
7. St Helens 8261
8. Catalans 7949
9. Castleford 7267
10. Huddersfield 7243
11. Wakefield 6439
12. Salford 4567
13. Crusaders 3670
14. Harlequins 2841

Wire, Bradford, Saints and Hull are the 4 remaining home games and all (especially Hull) travel in decent number so hopefully we can push up to 7,500 which although falls short of the target is a pretty decent effort in tough times.

To be honest i think thats a pretty poor effort from Wire and Huddersfield considering how they're playing

Good effort from HKR fans

To me the big success story seems to be Catalan - For whatever else you say about them they do seem to be doing a lot of what they said they would.
Trying to play a more indigenous team, French speaking coach and in spite of moving around a couple of times, seem to have a strong core of support - I think it is excellent news, with my expansion head on.... I wish them well, except for this week!

To be fair wire still have their big 2 derbies left to play at home and both will more than likely sell out. If they hit 10,000 for the other 3 remaining home games then they will have had a 5 figure attendance at every home league fixture this season. Not too shabby considering the amount of games on tv, moved to different days, and the fact that there are 3 teams with next to no travelling support.

Can you clarify the Cas attendance? I'm pretty sure it was reported as 9.9k.

They announced it at the game as over 10,000. Think it was about 10,400.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

We still have Hudds this weekend which will be over 18k... might even push towards 20k.
We also have Leeds which should get 17-18k.
The last game against Crusaders could be a pretty big attendances if we are lifting the league leaders shield as well ;)

Next years attendances should look much better....

Saints will average probably more like 12-13k in their new stadium.
Catalans should have a better start and will have the new stand. More like 9k from them.
Warrington will have an expanded stadium.
Our attendances have been going up so I expect another increase.
Hudds won't have to play any games at the shay and should have more season ticket holders due to another good year.
Widnes first year back in super league should see them average over 7k which will be better than many of the teams in the league.
Salford will be in a new stadium.
Hull KR are expanding their stadium.
Leeds are building a new south stand but that probably won't make a difference.

Just crusaders and quins to sort out.
