It's been around for a while. Whilst the example given is quite an extreme case, it's not uncommon for two tacklers to secure the top, whilst the 3rd man bowls the legs over.

2 sin bins and a ban I think...then Wigan complained and now most team gets away with it every week now.

It's a dangerous tackle that should be outlawed. I think Lima has been caught doing it twice this season on Sky, one of which almost caused a brawl if I recall correctly. In fact, wasn't it against Leeds as the full time hooter was blown?

Richie Mathers on twitter has been very vocal about getting this tackle out of the game.
